Sandersons Wynd Primary School had a visit from two Paralympic Squad athletes organised through Brian Fraser, a parent of the school, and an employee of the Lloyds Banking Group.
James Clegg (partially sighted swimming) and Michael Kerr (wheelchair rugby) took time out of their grueling training schedules to attend the school.
James and Michael were given a guided tour of the school before being guest speakers at a press conference held in the library. During this time they gave the pupils an insight into their achievements and experiences to date as well as their training schedules before fielding questions from class representatives.
The press conference was shown live as a webcast to the rest of the school pupils in their selected classrooms. The class representatives did very well and asked the athletes some really tough questions!
James and Michael also took a visit to The Hub, which is a unit within the school for children for complex needs, and took part in sing time before being given a great big thank you at the end of the afternoon from class 5T where many children had the opportunity to get their newly made Olympic autography books signed.
James and Michael both agreed they would come back in to the school to show off their medals if they succeed...we look forward to seeing them again next year!
