Knox Academy was celebrating on Thursday 20th May at Meadowmill Sports Centre, after they managed to win the East Lothian Youth Games and have their name engraved on the trophy for the first time.
The Youth Games is a celebration of sport and the climax to the core programme that sees all the East Lothian secondary schools compete in badminton, basketball, football, hockey and rugby.
The day is split into a morning and afternoon session where S1 and S2 pupils compete in the five sports in round robins and the points from each event add up to a grand total.
In the morning Knox Academy managed to get on the podium in all four sports played coming third in S2 girls hockey, S1/2 boys football, S1 boys rugby and second in the S1/2 team badminton. The afternoon saw Knox Academy build on these performances, with basketball being the only activity not covered in the morning. All the results counted towards the final points tally and the pupils did not disappoint! Fourth in the S1 girls hockey, third in the S1/2 girls football and first place for the S2 boys rugby and both the S1/2 girls and boys basketball.
Overall Knox Academy managed an impressive points total and was crowned overall champions lifting the winner’s trophy for the first time.
